Doge’s work has a subtle humour to it, telling a story in their transition from one use to another.

do i like it ?

Last Saturday, I visited Valentino: Master of Couture exhibit at the Somerset house. I am very impressed by the preciseness of the last fashion exhibitions I have seen (the last one was Jean-Paul Gaultier in Montreal – my best 2011 show). At Valentino, the museography was coherent. And the clothes was wowed although I wasn’t a big fan of his design before. If you are in London, visit Tim Walker and Valentino‘s exhibitions. I ♥ SSH !

so, what’s new?

I moved in London to start a master at the Royal College of Art two months ago. A new place with a new network, a new studio, a new flat and a new bike… Let’s hope that’s this adventure will influence my work in an exciting and unexpected way.

Andrea

Since I came back from Michigan, Andrea has been working on my pieces a few days a month. I feel extremely lucky to have her around. She is incredibly helpful and professional.

Alissa – my first intern …

Alissa came right away from Michigan to help me to saw, file, clean one of my latest piece. So patient!

a new departure

Yesterday, I cleaned up my space at L-Imprimerie. It needed to be ready for S. I leave tomorrow morning for five months. First one week in Montreal and then four months and a half in Michigan. I have no idea what to expect. I am looking forward to have this place of artist in residence in Cranbrook. I feel lucky but I really hate departure.
I am surprised -as always- to realise that I really feel home in Lausanne. I will miss a lot my atelier, my colleagues of l-imprimerie, my job of assistant in Head, my family, and most of all, my friends. Baah. It is only five months, isn’t it?

HUT – HOT

3 weeks in Panama on hollidays. D and I stayed on different islands. One of them was Kuanidup in caribbean sea. The smallest island I have never been on: 50 by 30 meters. 42 coconut trees. 1 inhabitant during the whole year. Maximum 12 visitors.
We are back in Switzerland for 2 weeks. We prepare the next adventure. 5 months in Ann Arbor – Michigan. Visas, travel health insurances, RC insurance, impôts, international driving licences, packing stuffs, cleaning our flat in Morges etc. We couldn’t find yet an apartment to rent in Ann Arbor. In United States, I hope I will feel at home as much as when we lived in this hut.

New pieces for Solothurn. Not so many. Just 2 or 3. Working on a new theme. Before the wedding. Hope that you will see and hear more those next months…

Twilight

My table with some sketches. I took the picture 5 minutes ago. Nostaligia. I feel like this picture right now. Tears.

rainforest under the bridge

Lausanne: 16-04. Rain forest under the bridge between cars and pedestrians. This could also be my house.

Aline d. in front my new wall-cupboard, which I built with Ilya a couple of weeks ago. Was waiting for it for more than a year. So happy. The studio becomes every months better and practical. mmh…

I also want a house in Lisboa…

lisboan_balcony

A couple of days in a nearly sunny Lisboa. Again a place where I could live for a while. Rhââaa. I feel so well surrounding by old houses, unhabitated places. broken blue, green, brown tiles on the wall. Crazy tiny balconies covered with plants.  Glossy paper public toilets filled with madonas.  Electric black wires like wild design on the facades. Why Switzerland does need to be hopelessly so clean and smooth?

AMSTERDAM

globes

Some globes closeby Waterlooplein in Amsterdam. Took the photo yesterday with Patricia. A little bit of sun. Mmm. This morning, I went to my old house in Wetering. Nothing really changed. Coffee with Filiz in the kitchen. Gossiping. Talking about plans and dreams. She took my sizes  to -maybe maybe !- make me a blouse with an amazing collar. I cross my fingers. I love her staffs. Check: www.filizakcakal.com. Right now, while writing this and beeing unsocial, I have a japanese tea with Rooz and Patricia. Watching them eating nice sticky rice…

Yekaterina

I live in a patchwork house for five days in the centre of Saint Petersburg. The floor is changing of colour and of texture every meter. Going from fake to real. In the toilets, two green pairs of old skis. Shelters and doors can be closed only with threads and elastics. Lisa, the cat, is eating my cheese every morning. the bed is a cupboard. It feels good to be here.

Welcome in Russia

welcome-in-St-p

Ermitage on thuesday.
Huge palace. I get lost all the time. Outside, the snow. the silence. On the picture the garden of the palace with some undefined lights. Someody told me that “in Saint Petersburg every day of the year it is christmas”.
I started with the visit of the tresor room. Golden jewellery, stone jewellery, enamel jewellery, weapons, clocks…

to Kovola

On the way to Kouvola. It is 3pm, the night is falling. I am on the train with Emma and Maaike. We have to change of train in Kouvola for St Petersburg. On the window, the last Finnish landscapes that I will see. A lot of forests. Very few houses. Sweet Emma is talking loud, Maaike is listening and I am taking pictures. I am looking forward to go to Russia. Maaike told be that I should draw those forests. That it looks very graphical. And melancholic. Emma asks me if I would like to be one of her referent for her final exam. She is Finnish and lives in Lahti. Finland, I will come back!

Imatra – Finland

imatra

23:45 on my new football watch. It is dark since four o clock this afternoon. I am in this strange place for a week. Don t find the accents on the finish keyboard. Heta Hyvonen, my sweet finish hostress, explains me how to download pictures with her computer. We had snow since yesterday. It is beautiful. I haven t seen much because I work every day at the school. Tomorrow, I will leave for Saint Petersburg. I am tired. I would like to travel more to places like this. Unknown and a little bit absurd.

Morocco – Tanger – …

tanger
A suivre…
