STOP TIME – Le Temps Suspendu is a collection of jewellery and objects which has been shown April 2011 at Caroline Van Hoek Gallery.
For this series, I worked with all kind of metals employing a whole range of grey : tin, gold, silver, stainless steel, iron, pewter…
I found pewter-wares eerily beautiful. They are objects which remain in families through the generations and yet nobody ever uses them. One receives them on special occasions, like religious fests or to commemorate a sport victory. They become some kind of relic: “This is the jar we received when I married you great uncle…” Very simply, I wanted to create new love stories with and for those objects.
Le Temps Perdu is a series of bracelet-watches. The watch’s movement is replaced by found objects, which are traces of specific moments, the instance when the object was lost and when I found it.
In this collection, I try to grasp a precise moment in life, to stop time, to make it stand still.
